Russian-American market is 5.1 million consumers – 2.04% of the US Population and the average of 4.5% population of the top 10 metropolitan areas.
The Russian-American market is best defined by a mix of shared language and culture. Multicultural Edge estimates the market size based on year 2000 Census ancestry data as 4.7 million strong. The Russian-American market as the population that on the Census 2000 form, self-reported ancestry as Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Latvian or Armenian. Not counted are those that the census classified as “Eastern European” although an unknown portion would qualify as Russian.














Only Russian  population in the United States is estimated at nearly at 2.9 million people. It is the second largest ethnic market, making up 10.4% of 28.4 million foreign born people in the country. Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, and other Eastern European communities speak Russian, which makes the Russian speaking community the second largest segment of the foreign born US population.
Their higher population, higher incomes, higher wealth, higher education levels, higher age demographics and higher lifestyle preferences make Russian Americans an attractive ethnic market segment for all organizations and services.

• 63% of the population hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

The inclination of this second largest foreign-born market segment towards higher education and high-paying employment ultimately leads to higher readership.

The median age is 32.5 years (compared to 38.1 years for all foreign born).

Employment
As an educated community, Russian-Americans focus more on business ownership and post-collegiate work, which results in higher-paying employment.
• 67.5% hold managerial, technical and sales occupations (compared to 45.6% within these same areas for all foreign-born).
• 21.4% are employed in service occupations (compared to 31.2% for all foreign-born).
• 11.9% are employed as operators, fabricators and/or laborers (compared to 18.7% for all foreign-born).

In addition, a half a million people were admitted to the United States from Russia and former Soviet Union nations in the period between 1990 and March 2000. Specifically, INS data indicates 501,883 admitted in this period closely corresponding to 517,827 according to the Census.
Russian Americans in a continuation of overseas patterns have small families. Still, as of 2000, there were over one million Russians under 21 years of age that  became adult consumers.
